RISORSE PRESSO IL CENTRO

The Italian Network on cooperatives and social economy originates from the nationwide survey and mapping of places where documental sources on the cooperatives movement are conserved. The information so gathered was input to a data base which can be searched through a specially devised search engine on the Internet. This network makes it possible to find where in Italy historical cooperative archives are located and what materials they contain. Currently acquired data enable searching through 36 Italian provinces.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The study, design, sources and implementation of the Network were defined by a working group made up by representatives of all partners. Since no register was available to identify the oldest cooperatives, our Centre contacted central cooperative associations and laid the foundations to develop a countrywide register of cooperatives which were incorporated before 1950.
Individual cooperatives were then contacted to fill a survey questionnaire with questions such as whether any historical archives were present, which documents were so kept, how documents were kept, and where material repositories were.
Collected information was input to a database which can be searched for all surveyed categories.
